For the Boy who could not Paint, 2

Eagle, golden-feathered,

high in the winter’s fog,

recognizing the boy,

turning his way.

Boy who was not able

to let himself believe,

who was afraid

to fly on Eagle’s back,

who was afraid

of the powers that be,

spirits of the land,

calling him,

summoning him,

asking him to remember

to speak for them,

to remember

to tell their stories.
